Munirat Idris is a PhD candidate under the supervision of Dr. Giovanni Fanchini in the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science. Munirat’s research focuses on interfacial synthesis and diffusion-controlled self-assembly in biphasic liquid systems, particularly water–butanol interfaces. She also investigates the formation of organic nanorods from small-molecule precursors and explores their applications in sensing and environmental remediation. Her work combines experimental chemistry with UV–Vis spectroscopy, surface and structural characterization, and reaction–diffusion modeling to understand how molecular transport at liquid–liquid interfaces controls nanostructure growth. She is especially interested in sustainable, low-energy synthesis routes for advanced functional materials. Through her research, she hopes to contribute to the development of innovative nanomaterials for real-world challenges in chemical sensing, pollutant removal, and interfacial materials engineering.
